I’m a personal trainer for mums in Perth. I help you get your body and your energy back with real strength training, built around your schedule and coached properly, in person with me at Doherty’s Gym or online at your own gym. No crash diets, no gimmicks, just real strength that sticks.
Why now is different
Why this works when the challenges didn’t
The reason the 6am bootcamps and the apps never stuck wasn’t you. They were built for someone with no kids and endless time, so the first busy week breaks the whole thing. They had you doing the wrong work anyway: flogging yourself with cardio and eating less, when the thing that actually changes your shape and your energy after kids is building muscle and eating in a way that keeps you full while still burning fat.
I train mums the way that works, real strength training and nutrition fitted to your week, with an actual coach in Perth who knows your name and notices when you go quiet.
Safe comes first
Starting safely
We start where your body actually is. If you’ve recently had a baby, we begin once you’ve had your six-week check and your GP has cleared you, and we build up gradually. If something doesn’t feel right, I’ll point you to a women’s health physio first. I’m not going to rush you into something your body isn’t ready for.
How it fits your week
How training around motherhood actually works
You don’t need to live at the gym. You need three focused sessions a week, done properly and planned around your life.
Three sessions a week, around an hour each, planned around school hours or whenever you’ve got the kids covered.
In person with me at Doherty’s Gym in Perth, or online at your own gym anywhere in Australia.
The same few sessions each week, so one rough day doesn’t end the whole thing.
No 6am bootcamp, no daily grind, just three sessions that count.

Who you’d be working with
A coach who notices when you go quiet
I’m Sam. I’ve spent 10 years coaching women, and more than 20 of them have been mums getting themselves back after having kids. I’ve done my own version of it too, I lost 30 kilos and kept it off, so I know this isn’t about willpower. It’s about the right plan and someone in your corner. I’m the one who checks in when you go quiet, not an app that lets you disappear.
A real Perth mum
If you look in the mirror some days and don’t quite recognise the woman looking back, you’re not the first mum to tell me that. Here’s one of them.
After two kids, my confidence was at its lowest. I knew what my body could do, but my energy was gone. Some days, just getting out of bed felt like the win. My core strength was basically non-existent, and I’d thrown myself straight back into playing footy without ever properly rebuilding it.
The hardest part was learning to be a little selfish, protecting my own time so it didn’t get swallowed up by everyone else’s. With how busy life is, I wasn’t sure I could stay consistent, so I started treating my session like an appointment I couldn’t move.
Training with Sam feels like training with a friend, one who’ll happily tell you off when you need it. I get the support and the accountability in one. These days I’ve got a proper routine around work, study, the kids, the gym and footy, and even my sleep has improved heaps. Best of all, I can do more for my kids. Carrying two toddlers at once is so much easier now than it used to be.
If you’re a mum sitting on the fence, just do it. Getting an escape from “just being a mum” gives you back your sense of individuality, and it opens up so much.

The work, plainly
What working with me looks like
- Coaching with me, one-on-one in Perth or online anywhere in Australia.
- A strength and nutrition plan built around your body and your week, not a template.
- Check-ins that keep you going, especially in the weeks motherhood throws everything at you.
- A safe, gradual build if you’re newly postpartum.
Picture six months from now. You’re not dodging the camera. You can carry the kids and the shopping without your back complaining. You’ve finally got something left in the tank at the end of the day. You feel like you again, the real one.
An honest fit
Who this is, and isn’t, for
For you if
You’re a mum who wants herself back, and you want a real coach to build it around your life, not another app you’ll forget to open.
Not for you if
You’re after a quick fix, a six-week shred, or a single number on the scale by some deadline.
You might be thinking
The honest answers to what’s running through your head
I don’t have time.
It’s three sessions a week, around an hour each. A real commitment, but planned around your week, not the daily grind that burned you out before, and it’s enough to actually change things.
Is it even safe this soon after a baby?
We start once you’re cleared and build up slowly. Safe comes first, every time.
I’ve started before and stopped.
Of course you have. The all-or-nothing plans set you up to. We build something that survives a bad week.
What’s it going to cost?
We’ll talk that through on the call, no pressure either way. The bigger cost is another year of waiting to feel like yourself.
The easy next step
So here’s the easy next step. Book a free strategy session with me. We’ll talk about where you’re at, what hasn’t worked, and whether what I do is the right fit for you. No pressure, no hard sell.
You’ve spent long enough at the bottom of your own list. Let’s get you back.
Good questions
A few things mums ask me
Once you've had your six-week check and your GP has cleared you, generally. Every recovery is different, especially after a caesarean, so we start gently. If anything needs clinical help, I'll point you to a women's health physio first.
If your kids aren't at school yet, you'll need them covered while you train, the same as any gym session. What I do is help you fit your three sessions a week into the times you've already got sorted: school hours, a partner home, a grandparent.
Three sessions a week, around an hour each, planned around your schedule. A real commitment, but three focused sessions, not a daily grind, and that's what actually changes your body and keeps it changed.
Yes, the sustainable way. Once you're cleared to train, we build strength and steady habits rather than crash dieting, so the weight comes off in a way you can actually keep.
